Biography
Charles Usry is a trial attorney dedicated to helping individuals and families who have suffered life-altering harm due to the negligence or misconduct of others. His practice focuses on serious injury and wrongful death cases, including nursing home abuse and neglect, medical malpractice, pharmaceutical errors, trucking accidents, and catastrophic car wrecks. Charles also represents clients in complex insurance coverage disputes and claims involving significant financial losses, including deceptive investment products and fraudulent Indexed Universal Life (IUL) insurance schemes.
With a strong track record of results and recognition, Charles has been named a Top Attorney in South Carolina by Columbia Living Magazine and a Top-Rated Personal Injury Attorney in Columbia by Super Lawyers, which has selected him as a Rising Star multiple times for his professional achievement and peer recognition. He is an active member of the South Carolina Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, and the AAJ’s Nursing Home Litigation Group.
Charles earned his undergraduate degree with honors from Wofford College, where he received the L. Harris Chewning Award, the highest honor within his major. At the University of South Carolina School of Law, he was awarded the prestigious Claud Sapp Award, given annually to the graduate who best exemplifies scholarship, leadership, and professional excellence. He began his legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable John C. Hayes, III in South Carolina’s Sixteenth Judicial Circuit.
Drawing on nearly two decades of experience, Charles now helps lead RP Legal LLC’s national litigation strategy in cases involving failed financial products, particularly where IUL policies were falsely marketed as safe retirement plans. His ability to navigate both personal injury and complex financial claims makes him a key asset to clients who need justice after suffering severe personal or economic harm.
Charles lives in Columbia, South Carolina with his wife, Kate, and their two sons.
